Have you ever noticed that Jesus rarely said, "God wants me to..." or "God told me to..."
On a couple of occasions directly out of a time of prayer, he might have said something like, "I'm (we're) supposed to..." but I have a hard time thinking about specific times where he plays the "God card." This is a "top of the head" type of thing; so I can be wrong.
He did talk about generically everything he does is of the Father's will. Especially in the Gospel of John.
He just acted and let people decide.
So what?
Why do we (me too) say, "God wants (or told) me to..." so much?
Are we afraid that God doesn't want us to so we justify our actions to other people?
What if we just behaved in a way God wanted us to (without any disclaimer) and let people decide?
Do we not know his will well enough that we need to play the "God card?"
Maybe that would be too scary. After all, some people didn't like Jesus and tried to push him off a cliff, stone him and eventually had him crucified.
These are all ideas running through my head about this thought. I'm guilty of all the above. I'm praying God opens my heart to the cure.
From Calvin and Hobbes on 4/28/10.
Backstory...before this, Calvin had waited 6 weeks for a much wanted beanie to arrive. Once it did, he broke the beanie. Now he is in an argument with Hobbes about who broke the beanie.
This is a great picture of Jesus taking the blame. When our life is a wreck, we want someone else to blame. It is a natural reaction.
The good news is that Someone took the blame, but never had to.
For those scoring at home, this is substitutionary atonement.
Here is two and a half minutes of our home--unedited. They really didn't ham this up for TV.
If anyone wants to give to the "get the boys another chair" foundation, that would be great. Nichole got a good Craigslist deal on this one. Now it is a spot of contention for the boys. The futon is going onto Craigslist to make room for both chairs.
Noah is 3 months and over the past week has been holding his head up very well. Josiah continues to say more and more things. Elijah wants to lead Josiah, but Josiah usually isn't interested in being led.
So, welcome to our home!

We have begun monthly services and trying to reach more people. Therefore, our needs are increasing.
God will provide everyone of our needs. Maybe he will use some of you to do so. Above are some needs that we have.
Our primary need?
Partner churches and individuals who will adore God and advance his Kingdom to meet the lost where they are and bridge them to God, even from a distance.
We could use some mission teams also. This would allow us to touch more people in a smaller time. When?

"I'm going to find time for that."
Do you ever find time?
Or do you make time?
I just made time for this blog post. I didn't find time for it. I'll never find time for anything.
I'll make time for everything. Everything that I want to do.
We're all busy. We all have 24 hours. If you want 8 hours of sleep, you will make time for it. You'll never find time for it. If you want to study or read the Bible, you'll make time for it. Otherwise, you'll make time for something else.
Every second in life is a decision.
What is your decision for the next second?
This image shows why we came to NY...
See the blue? Yes, 1-3%.
Where do you want to go on a mission trip? Where 1/4 of the population is attending an evangelical church?
Or where the same percentage of people attend evangelical churches as in foreign countries that are considered "unreached?"
This is Nichole Day here @ the blog. This last one is to show everyone what her couponing looks like.
You know what kills gift giving? Having debt. Yes, one will argue (and is right), that you don't have to have money to give the best gifts. But there is something that happens when you have crippling debt. Creativity goes out the window. It is about survival.
That is starting to lighten up for us. Our goal is to be out of credit card debt in the next 12 months, and it is an obtainable goal. So the creativity is returning. This was the first birthday in quite a while that I felt free to be able to do something.
Our apartment wall has a lot of photos on it. For Nichole's birthday, I wanted to freshen up the photos a little bit. Above you see the photos that are now on our wall.
Actually, Nichole got the good idea to freshen up one photo early; so she put the same Easter photo with all 4 of us in the same frame. I guess that I chose wisely:).
Today marks Nichole's _ _th birthday (I'll just keep it as above 9 and below 100, just to get in that habit since she'll now be at this age forever).
God has blessed me with an amazing wife. To see the way she has looked at our three boys is breath taking. She deals with me in patience as I continuously am no where near where I need to be as a husband and father.
Really, she is one of the prime reasons we are still on mission here in Baldwinsville. In the time of deep sting last year, she remained committed to the reason why we came...to see Jesus' name glorified through starting a church in Baldwinsville that reaches people. She helped me focus on what could be, instead of what was.
Nichole's name means "victory" (root of the Greek "nike"). She is certainly seeing God make her victorious in so many ways. She doesn't just survive through life of mothering three children while being a Team Member in planting a church, she thrives. She is moving through a project to clean out our apartment in a way that makes her "nesting" look like nothing.
God continues to make her an example for all people to follow! Go over to
her blog and let her know what she means to you!
