Bringing Peace

After people stream a peace and a healing occur that is unlike any other.

The picture portrayed is pretty far fetched. Nations will stop making arms. They will stop using weapons. God will gathered the lame--you know, the people no one wants--together.

This is not a call to world peace through government. This is a picture of what happens when people do come to God and learn his ways. If entire nations came to know God in this way, then we would see this happen. Until that time, we just have to wait until God restores everything back to the way it was intended to be.

People who are truly transformed by God have peace and they want everyone to have the peace they have. They don't look to pick fights or agitate people. The message of God is explosive and gets people riled up, but as we read in Acts, people get riled up at the content of the message, not because the disciples and apostles were antagonistic.

If you follow Christ, it is our job to put down our weapons and be peaceful, but also know that people want to stream God's mountain to hear about his Truth. That is our cue to give it to them.

Streaming to God's Path

Why do the nations stream the mountain of the Lord?

"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about His ways so that we may walk in His paths." For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

The nations--the people God's people think can't ever come to God--stream to God's house (the Church, or people of God) so they can be taught directly from God his ways and how to live in his paths.

When God's Spirit is at work lifting God's house to a prominent place, people from the outside will take notice and stream so they can know how to live life.

People came to Jesus from all walks of life so because he had the words of God and wanted more out of life. Did all of them hang with it? No. Jesus even gave a parable saying not all will stick with it

A life of living your own truth is exhausting. When a Truth is presented that is unconditional, hopeful, joyful and stronger than anything else, people want that. And we are finding that young adults and youth in America do want it, but they first have to have reason to stream.

I see a day when the Church in America is so invigorating that people stream so they will know God and his ways.

Live Streaming

In the last days the mountain of the Lord's house will be established at the top of the mountains and will be raised above the hills. All nations will stream to it. Isaiah 2:2.

"People today just aren't interested in church."
"People today aren't interested in truth, they make up their own thing."
"If unchurched people are streaming to your church, you have to be watering down the Gospel."

When Jesus walked the earth, the religious leaders thought there was no way he was a true teacher of Israel--let alone God himself--because he had such a following from people who had no religious background. The religious leaders had a monopoly on God and because the common people didn't have interest in their version of God, they thought they just were not interested.

Instead, when Jesus walked on earth, people streamed to him.

Then, when the Holy Spirit came on the disciples in Acts 2, people streamed to them. Then they kept streaming. And kept streaming when the disciples went to Samaria. And kept streaming when the disciples went to Asia. And kept streaming when the disciples went to Greece. And kept streaming when the disciples went to Rome. (BTW...the reason why you're reading this is because people have kept streaming for 2,000 years.)

Did they face persecution? Yes. Mostly because people kept streaming.

Have we picked up on a pattern yet?

So why is it that when we don't see people streaming to God's people today, that it is the unchurched people's fault? Because the pattern of scripture...and the prophecy of God...says that when his mountain is established people will stream to it.

Instead, let's trust God's Word when he says that people will stream. Having faith means that if we don't see people stream from all nations, maybe our approach is wrong to the culture God has placed in us. Or maybe we are using our own ingenuity instead of the Holy Spirit's power. Jesus utilized God's power and cultural sensitivity. So did the disciples/apostles in Acts. And through this combination, people streamed.

Granted, there will be times when God prunes us and we don't see fruit. But that is in preparation for a time of more fruit.

So now we must ask...why will the nations stream?...

On Top

In the last days the mountain of the Lord's house will be established at the top of the mountains and will be raised above the hills. Isaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1.

For us today, this is a bit of an odd picture. What do we get from this imagery?
  • This happens in the "last days." When is that? Anytime after Jesus' birth. His life inaugurated the last days. He started it. We're living in it. He will finish it with his return.
  • What is God's house? In that time, the people would read that and think about the physical temple. Now, God's house is the Church. He dwells within each individual and within the people as a group. It has nothing to do with a building, but a people.
  • Are we supposed to put our church on a hill? What if we live in Kansas? During the Old Testament times, the religions would show off the power of their God by putting their house of worship on the highest hill possible. God was using this imagery to say, "I will be the top. My church will be shown as the top (because it will be inseparably linked to Me). Nothing will be able to beat it."
While on earth, Jesus says it this way...
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock [the confession of Jesus as Messiah] I will build My church, and the forces of Hades will not overpower it. Matthew 16:18.

The confession of Jesus as Messiah or Lord is what makes the church the Church. This is the starting point of where the power of God comes from. A power that will not be defeated! We cannot see Acts 2 type of stuff until we, as individuals and as a group, live out Jesus as Lord. It isn't enough to say it (Matthew 7:21a), but we must live it (Matthew 7:21b).

What is the purpose? So that those not on the "hill of the Lord" can see the hill.

A Stirring In My Heart

God is really taking the image portrayed in Isaiah 2 and Micah 4 and stirring my heart for seeing this happen. This is a passage that has always caught my attention, but right now, it is really captivating me.

What is so captivating?

  • The Lord's house will be established as the top.
  • All nations will stream to it.
  • They will stream for God's instruction.
  • Peace and healing will ensue.

This is a clear vision God has for his people and his church. We're seeing it all over the world and in America. Let's take a look at what this could mean for us over the next few days.
