Throwing Sinners Parties
I got the privilege to be at our last church FBC Heber Springs, AR this past weekend to preach. It was great to see so many people we hadn't seen in two years!
This message is a version of a message in the Transformed Series called "Throwing Sinners Parties." Jesus calls Matthew, the worst of the worst. Then Matthew threw a sinners party where Jesus was the guest of honor. According to the religious elite, this was irreligious.
The thing is that Jesus gave his best to the "worst." The "worst" in Jesus' day were those who religion had decided were too bad to be close to a holy God. As the church, we are supposed to do the same as what Jesus did. We are to give our best to the "worst." The people who are too bad for church.
