Break the Chains of Power
Power is the unspoken temptation of church leaders. Power alone is not a sin. It's in how you seek and use your power.
And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”
Luke 4:5-7
Power
The unspoken temptation of church leadership.
Success brings power.
You get intoxicated on power, sip by sip.
Then all of a sudden, you'‘re known as a toxic leader.
And most likely, you’ll do whatever it takes to silence those who think you’re toxic.
But having power is not a sin.
Jesus was on the earth to prove he had all power and authority over every single kingdom on this planet. Exactly what Satan promised.
But Jesus came to this proof by dying on a cross and resurrecting from the grave and ascending to the right hand of the Father.
How do you not let power intoxicate you?
It’s all in who you worship.
Do you worship the desire for more?
Do you worship the Lord your God alone?
And practically, this shows itself through only serving God your Father.
And you show you serve God your Father by how willing you are to serve people.
Do you go out of your way to serve others?
Or do you go out of your way to serve yourself? In an attempt to grow, succeed, get more?
The more successful you are by outward standards, the more you have to fight to intentionally take up your cross daily and give up your life so that you can gain Life.
Death breaks the chains of power.
