Celebrating the Defeat of Sin
Passover was to remember the Israelites redemption from slavery. Now, do we celebrate when Jesus broke us free?
What can be learned from the 3 festivals?
Passover
“You shall not eat leavened bread with it; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in a hurry), so that you will remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.”
The Passover is a solemn assembly to remember when they were ransomed and redeemed from slavery.
Today, this is to remember when we were ransomed and redeemed from the slavery of sin. Jesus defeated our gods on the cross. They enslaved us in a life that promised so much freedom and yet chained us to death.
But he defeated death and sin and the grave by dying with our sin on himself, being forsaken by his Father, laid in the tomb and busting out 3 days later!
Do you have a time you solemnly celebrate being broken free of sin and death and the grave?
As you lead others in ministry, find times to solemnly celebrate breaking free. Communion is not just a thing we do every so often to check off our religious box. Easter isn’t just the Super Bowl of Sundays for Christians.
These are ways for you to lead others to remember the price Jesus paid to break you and them free from the entrapment of sin.
How can you make time in your ministry calendar to solemnly celebrate Jesus breaking you free from sin?
