Church Leader's Job Description
The prophecy Zechariah sang about his son is the same job description for church leaders today.
John the Baptizer is the model of ministry in boldness, holiness and righteousness.
After singing about the Baby inside Mary, he sang about his own child.
John will…
Go before the Lord to prepare his ways.
Give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins.
Reveal the mercy of God like a sunrise on their souls.
Give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
Guide their feet into the way of peace.
As ministry leadership, your job description is no different. Sure, the role you play in your church will shade how you do the 5 things John did, but the actual job description is the same as John’s.
Prepare the way of the Lord.
God wants to move in your community. He wants to move into the darkness. And he will use you to prepare their hearts for what Jesus wants to do.
Ultimately, God will use you to light up the lives of those in darkness. To light up the lives of those sitting in the shadow of death.
You are not a leader in the church to appease religious people.
God has you as a leader in his Church to lead people who Hear & Follow Jesus to be ministers preparing the way of the Lord by giving Light to those living in darkness so they can find Peace.
