Daniel Asked, Bartered and Served
Daniel built influence by asking, bartering and serving the community, nation and culture which was far from God. This earned him a seat at the table so he could then influence the table.
Daniel Asked, Bartered and Served
To build influence, Daniel…
Asked the head of the eunuchs to only eat his diet.
Bartered by asking for a 10-day trial.
Served by having compassion for the chief’s situation.
He served the people of the nation. He brought himself under their authority first.
Daniel had every reason to hate these people. He could have held a grudge. He could have subversively plotted to ruin the nation. But instead he served them while having a vision for what God wanted.
God gives a way of Life that is better. But this does not give you the right to throw fits, yell and demand your way.
Today Christians think to have influence with communities, nations and cultures far from God, we must yell, scream, demand and subvert to get our way.
To earn a seat at the table, ask, barter and serve, while having a vision only God can see.
The goal is influence. Asking, bartering and serving builds influence. Because it pushes the Flywheel of Leadership forward.
Flywheel of Leadership:
Leadership is influence.
Influence is presence.
Presence is love.
Love is sacrifice.
Sacrifice is leadership.
If you want influence on communities, nations and cultures around you, you must practice the cycle of leadership.
You must have presence with the people you want to influence for the Kingdom.
You must have love for them to be present with them.
You must sacrifice yourself for them to show your (and God’s) love.
And all of this is leadership. Over time, this will earn you a seat at the table to influence the communities, nations and cultures around you.
Take God’s Word Deeper…
To earn a seat at the table, you must build influence. To build influence, you must ask, barter and serve to push the flywheel of leadership.
Are you and your church more likely to yell, scream and demand to get your way? Or are you more likely to ask, barter and serve to build influence?
How can you use the Flywheel of Leadership to earn your seat at the table?
Pray for God to fill you with his will on how he wants you to build influence among communities, nations and cultures who are far from him.
