Don’t Satisfy Church People
As a minister, your job isn’t to satisfy church people, but to lead them to a strong life to be seen by the nations.
Being a church leader isn’t about making the people of the church happy.
They are the church. You lead them to be a people for the nations.
The Old Testament idea of nations is anyone not the people of God.
Look what God’s rescue does…
“Their descendants will be recognized and honored among the nations. Everyone will realize that they are a people the Lord has blessed.””
“The Sovereign Lord will show his justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise him! His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring, with plants springing up everywhere.”
When God rescues from our poverty, brokenness and bondage, and makes us a strong oak, those far from God take notice.
They strive and claw and try to satisfy a longing only God can satisfy. When we have the righteousness they long for, we look like a people of beauty. And when we rejoice over our salvation and not all the things that pass away, this is a strength of life not many have.
Their field is all burnt up. But they see a field who has plants springing up everywhere.
As a minister, you don’t satisfy church people. You lead the people, who are the church, to find a life in Jesus that is beautiful to a people far from God longing for something more.
