Gather the Sick
Jesus had a mission. He wants his church to have the same mission. Are you willing to live out this mission by leading his church towards it?
And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Luke 5:31-32
Church leadership needs to step up and determine they will have the same mission as Jesus.
Not put the mission on their walls. Maybe they do. Maybe they don’t.
A mission lived is more contagious than a mission written.
A mission that says and acts in a way that says, “We’re not here to gather the ‘righteous’, but to gather the sick.”
Maybe you want to, but your church has a long way to go.
Fine. Start with someone. Start with a group of people open to think differently about their role and their mission in the church.
Not to sit. Not to dictate. Not to grumble.
But as someone who was a sinner, met Jesus, and
Let him transform their life,
Let him cleanse and make them righteous,
Let him give them Life in their soul…
Be someone who works to throw sinner’s parties week-in, week-out so that their sinner buddies can meet Jesus.
And find a Life in their soul their sin can never give to them.
