Humble, Open & Courageous Leadership
God will never give the vision for his Church to just one. This requires humble, open and courageous leadership.
And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, 43but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.
Luke 4:42-43
There is a danger in the “pastor going to the mountain top and coming down with a vision” style of leadership.
God will never give the direction of his church to just one person.
However, this does not mean the masses will see the direction either.
Leadership is not dependent upon what others say, and yet the direction for his church cannot be dependent upon you alone.
If you’re the only one receiving the vision, wait and see. As the Head of his Church, Jesus won’t give his direction to just one.
But also be courageous enough to go the direction Jesus is leading, despite what the masses want.
Leadership like this requires departing to a desolate place to Hear from God. Because there is no one right answer to any possible change of direction.
Be humble enough to know you’re not the Head of the Church.
Be open enough to let others speak into what God is saying to them.
Be courageous enough to not let the masses dictate what God is saying.
