Please Tread on Me
The Father is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Therefore, he was kind to you too. This is how we are able to love and be kind and be merciful to those who are enemies.
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:35-36
How do we love our enemies?
Remember we all were the enemies of Jesus too.
Doesn’t matter if you grew up in church.
Doesn’t matter if you work or lead in a church.
Doesn’t matter how much good you’ve done.
You were an enemy to Jesus.
And Jesus,
And his Heavenly Father,
And his Spirit,
Was and is and will always be kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
Shoot. Jesus himself prayed, “Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they’re doing,” while bleeding out on the cross.
Give those you parent and lead a vision of a completely different mission.
Not the vision of serving ourselves and our rights.
But a vision of serving and being merciful to those who will tread on you.
Because you treaded on the cross of Jesus…and yet he went joyfully to the cross anyway.
