Preaching Sinner's Parties
Jesus came physically close to sinners to bring salvation and healing. He wants your church to do the same. A sermon outline to use when leading your people to engage with those far from God.
Life Point: Jesus came physically close to sinners to bring salvation and healing. He wants your church to do the same.
Jesus is God.
Is this more than an intellectual acknowledgment?
How has Jesus impacted your life as God?
Not going through the motions of leading his church. Not showing up looking good on the outside.
How has he really impacted your life as God?
Now, how can you move from leading people into an intellectual acknowledgment of Jesus as God into a “Jesus has transformed my life because he is God.”?
Jesus, being God, forgives sin.
Like the paralytic on the mat, Jesus will heal. He will heal physically, emotionally, mentally.
He will first heal spiritually.
Jesus is the Source of Life inside of our soul. He offers this Life no matter what is wrong with us physically. This Life is what transforms us into his image.
How can you lead people to recognize their physical, emotional and mental healing is second to spiritual healing?
Our biological life is fragile. It will waste away. It is wasting away.
Jesus Life in our soul will give us the biological life to find victory in every circumstance.
Jesus, as One who forgives sin, will come close to sinners.
Jesus didn’t just heal the paralytic. He called the tax collector to follow him.
Then, Jesus went to a sinner’s party Levi threw so his sinner buddies can meet Jesus.
Church leader, do you believe Jesus will come close to sinners? When did he first come close to you? How has he continued to come close to you despite all the ways you want to chase the created order for the Life inside your soul?
Lead your people to recognize he comes close to paralytics, tax collectors and the religious. No matter what baggage they sit there with, he is close to them.
He wants his church to do the same.
The Church is Jesus’ body, now the visible representation of him on this earth.
Do you lead your church to throw sinner’s parties every Sunday? To rally his people together to put on a party so they can invite their sinner buddies to?
Jesus physically came close to sinners to bring them healing in their spiritual brokenness. How are you leading your church to bring the same healing to those far from God in the context in which God has placed you?
