Providing For Your Soul
Your relationship with God is too vital to look to the created order to fill your soul.
The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
Luke 4:3
Created order
God created everything as a good gift to us to enjoy life.
Temptation
The desire to use the created order to provide what only God can provide…Life in our soul.
Sin
Using the created order to fill our soul with the Life only God can give.
Death
When we sin, our soul longing for the Life only God gives, but instead we experience despair, hopelessness, dread, burnout, fatigue.
Satan tempted Jesus to use his position to provide for himself what he spent 40 days no having…food.
Instead, Jesus told Satan, “My Life comes from a Source bread can never be.”
The created order can be your church, your ministry success, the rules you follow.
These are the “good looking” temptations for ministers. But you’re still filling your soul with something other than the Life only Jesus provides.
You could be flirting with temptations…or giving into sin…that you have hidden.
You could be using your position to be entitled to parts of God’s created order. You’re using his created order to fill your soul with the Life only he gives.
Repent.
To God.
To someone else.
The leadership you have is too vital. The relationship you have with God is too vital. Your family is too vital. The people you lead are too vital.
God wants you. Not your work as a facade to look good.
He wants to provide for and fill you with Life inside your soul only he can give.
