The Religious Will Cry Foul
Don't be the religious who only intellectually know Jesus is God. Be someone who believes he sees something only he can see for you and your church.
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Luke 5:21
Can you imagine what flashed through the paralytic buddies’ minds when Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven.”?
My guess is their initial reaction was, “Um, that’s all good and all, but he still can’t walk.” There probably was that one guy of the group who was about ready to call Jesus out for not giving the healing they tore through the roof for.
Then the religious leaders spoke up.
Inside this interaction, Jesus claims God status.
As a church leader, chances are high this is not breaking news.
Here’s the deal. When you start seeing what only God can see. And especially when you act on it. And double (triple, quadruple) especially when you act on it by going through obstacles.
The religious will cry foul.
How dare you believe such nonsense?
Oh, in our day, the religious believe intellectually that Jesus is God.
But intellectually is where they stop.
Don’t be a “go through the motions” leader in the church.
Believe God sees something only he can see.
Believe God wants to use you to bring spiritual and physical healing to people who need something brand new.
Believe God wants to use you to rise up a people who carry a lot of mats. And go through a lot of roofs. To get people to Jesus.
Believe God wants to use your church to do something in your community only your church can do because God has a vision only he can see.
