Woe to Those Who Laugh
Jesus tells us the well off will laugh later, but woe to those who laugh now. So what's the difference?
Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.
Luke 6:25
For the well off, Jesus promised for them to weep now and laugh later.
But here, he says those who laugh now will weep later.
Well, which is it? Does he want us to laugh or weep?
These are about where do you receive your blessedness.
The religious laugh now because they think they provide for their own religious superiority.
Instead, Jesus wants us to weep over our broken state so that he can heal us.
And then we laugh from the joy that comes from him filling us with who he is.
Jesus comes against the religious providing for their own spiritual needs. Because we can’t.
So, does your laughter and joy come from what you do for yourself spiritually?
Does it come from what you accomplish in ministry?
Or do you have joy because Jesus has your name written in Heaven?
